Vector Mask Tutorial

First open the image on which you have to do masking. 

As background layer is locked first we have to unlock it by converting it into layer. For this double click on the background layer , a dialogue box will appear . Click ok. 

Now select marquee tool and select the area upon which u want to do vector masking.

Now we will convert the selection into path .For this go to windows and click on path.

Now click on " Make work path from selection ".

Now you will see that selection is converted into the path .

Now go to       Layer --- >Vector mask -----> Current path

Now you are done .. :) 

The advantage of vector mask over layer mask is that if you want to edit it later than u can do it . For this select direct selection tool . and click on path and drag the points .
